If you’ve been around the high school at any point, you have likely seen a teacher either in the engineering classrooms or roaming the hallways carrying and twirling around a long yard stick. That’s Mzr. Reddington, who has recently been awarded the title of “Teacher of the Month” for the month of October 2026. He was awarded because of his devotion to his students—giving them independence and the ability to perform trial/error and learning from mistakes, while also simultaneously assisting and pushing them in the right direction when needed. His positive and humorous spirit is why students feel drawn to his classes, and why his classes are so enjoyable & easy to look forward to daily. Reddington teaches a wide variety of classes all under the umbrella of engineering, such as Architecture Design, Engineering, Engineering Design, 2D Drafting, 3D Modeling, & more.

How do you feel about being recognized as Teacher of The Month?

Mzr. Reddington expresses his enthusiasm with his statement of:

“It’s cool.”

He emphasizes that a lot of people do things that are always deserving of recognition. We are so lucky to have such hardworking teachers and faculty at NRHS. Many of the amazing things that teachers do daily often go unnoticed, so it’s nice to stop, recognize, and appreciate the things that go into their work. “[It’s] nice to be seen”, Mzr remarks.

What’s a unique fact about yourself that not many people know?

“I’m a wizard.”

This question puzzled Mzr. simply because many students already know this about him. Nonetheless, he and his student emphasize that this is in fact a true fact! Seriously, ask him. He will not deny it.

What is your favorite course to teach & why?

Despite loving any and every course, architecture is by far Mzr’s favorite. He states that he has a technology and engineering license, which provides a broad scope of courses that all intertwine under the same umbrella. Reddington goes on to say, “I really enjoy challenging students to be creative and to imagine things”. Imagining & learning is a vital part of any engineering process.

Where did you go to college, and what for?

“Northeastern,” Mzr states. Northeastern University is a private research university located in Boston. It specializes under the umbrella of STEM, most notably through their programs of engineering and science. There, he studied civil engineering, as well as a specific concentration in structures and pollution. “I did get a masters degree from Western Governors University,” which he describes as a fully online program, “…in teaching high school science”. And now, he’s a valued part of the NRHS community!

What is your favorite part about teaching?

One thing that Reddington highlights throughout his many classes is the process rather than just the result. “I teach critical thinking and problem solving”. In addition, he does enjoy what comes after the ‘eureka moment’, where complex situations become more clear through that critical thinking. Mzr goes on to state, “[I enjoy] seeing students take mindsets that I’ve taught them and use them in a new context”. Using this to problem solve and find a new angle is something that Reddington strives to teach in all his classes with all his students, allowing them to grow by trying different ways from what they used before. “That’s very gratifying”, he adds.
